Andrea Sibbick - Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
About Me
Life can be hectic, complicated and even lonely at times. Whatever you are facing right now, I would be honored to take this first step with you on this journey.
My name is Andrea and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). That means that I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
I completed the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MACP) with Yorkville University in New Brunswick. Prior to that, I completed my BA in Psychology at McMaster University in Hamilton.
“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are” – Chauncey Depew.
I am passionate about helping others in my community here in Muskoka. My family moved here when I was one and I am happy to call Muskoka my home. I hope to be an ambassador for health and wellness within this community.
I mainly work with adult individuals ages 18 + as well as couples.
My main areas of practice include anxiety, depression, life transitions and stress as well as relationship issues. Please explore my website to find out more specific information on all areas of practice.
My Methodology
I take a holistic approach to counselling and therefore we will assess and address all areas including biological, psychological and sociological. This is also known as the Biopsychosocial approach to counselling.
I have been told that my approach is very warm, compassionate and collaborative. You will be actively involved throughout our sessions. I strive to foster an open and comfortable environment, free from judgement.
Some of my favorite methodologies include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness-Based and Person-Centered. When working with couples I incorporate the Gottman Method in my approach.
